Shorts Miami Film Festival will be hosting a panel discussion with three of Miami's most innovative voices at the intersection of cinema and emerging technologies. Come hear about their experiences using new technologies that are advancing storytelling today. Diliana Alexander, Founder and Executive Director of FilmGate Miami, brings her extensive experience building international platforms for XR, AI, and independent storytelling, offering insights on how ethical implementation and community-centered design can democratize creative tools while fostering global collaboration. Joining her is multidisciplinary artist Alec Jerome Kreisberg, whose experimental work in AR, 3D animation, and immersive performance—from viral filters to his surrealist DreamLink Mobile project—exemplifies how new technologies can push narrative boundaries in unexpected, emotionally resonant ways. UM filmmaker Perry Feder rounds out the conversation, contributing perspectives on how artificial intelligence is actively being used as a creative collaborator in the filmmaking process itself. Together, they will explore how AI, virtual production, and immersive media are reshaping not just how stories are told, but who gets to tell them, examining both the exciting creative possibilities and the critical need for intentional, human-centered approaches that honor artistic vision while expanding access. The conversation illuminates Miami's growing role as a global hub where technological innovation and diverse storytelling traditions converge, creating new pathways for artists, audiences, and the future of cinema itself.
